When I first served as your Councilman,
I opposed the sweetheart deals the
city made with developers and warned
against the negative results of such
a strategy.
The city can and should grow in a
prudent, controlled way. In the years
since I've served on Council, we've
seen the Oceana Master Jet Base go
from expansion to being threatened
with closure and voted for realignment
by BRAC.
It's time to halt the policy of development
at all costs, especially when the
costs are 11,000 jobs.
